THE GREAT UNITY PIVOT OF SPRING 2019! Hush Blossom is shifting over in development from Game Maker 2 to Unity, this should make future development a lot easier after a bit of learning.
Luckily learning GMS (that's the code my blossoms!) has given me a bit of a headstart in C# (that's also the code muh dudes!). I've started taking one of the Udemy courses from that one guy who says 'making games is easier than you think' to level up faster.
And while this does mean that code development has slowed down a tad, it's eventually going to get a lot faster. Game Maker is a wonderful engine and you can do some cool amazing things with it, see Hyper Light Drifter, Undertale and a whole host of games infact! Unity I feel is more pivoted to work better with the kind of game Hush Blossom is. This also means future Game Dev Projects with other partners will go smoother if all coders are working with experience on one engine! ^_^
This also doesn't mean that art, music and design isn't still being worked on in the background. Our composer Mario has been making some beautiful pieces and M31 has some work coming up too, I've personally been playing a bunch of shop management games like Moonlighter and Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop, as well as fuelling my addiction with other games like Game Dev Story. In short I've learned a lot about what makes these games tick and how I can make Hush Blossom even better.
In short we're all working hard to make the Blossom bloom, and this really means that we're ready for early development - the Game Maker build was an Alpha, and now we're approaching early Beta! It might take a little while longer, but we're getting there!!
Keep on Blossoming!
