Developer Diary Chapter 37

The Hunter System is finished!

So to speak :D

This marks the first version of the Hunter Alpha, this version includes a solid amount of options for one area. Only a few options here to allow the player to grab a few items from the opening area to go towards crafting lingerie. This version comes with about 45 different scenarios, the final version will have loads more, if this Alpha proves to be fun.

SECTION ONE - Region View

The world of Hush Blossom has a lot of different regions to it, with all manner of wonderful creatures and people to meet. So for only the Auberose Rainforest is open for business!

SECTION TWO - The Hunt User Interface

This plain set of black boxes contains all of the necessary UI for encounters so far, listing the Hunter's Stats and Energy, as well as the location and room for text (so far this is supplemented by white box windows however!).

SECTION THREE (A) - Playing to your Strengths

Each Hunt Scenario in Hush Blossom comes under five distinct stats, tracking the Hunter's separate ability types.

1.  Hunting 2. Gathering 3. Charisma 4. Wisdom 5. Exploration

Each of these also has three sub-types, which allows the player to delve into multiple types of scenario!

These appear randomly to the player so that they are able to pick a Scenario to their liking and dive right in, the given Scenario will be randomly selected.

Picking a discipline allows them to have a preconceived notion of what to expect.

SECTION THREE (B) - Getting Stuck In

Once a Discipline is chosen and a Scenario randomly assigned the player must choose from a few options. Similarly to RPG games of old and D&D each option comes with a stat that contributes to the success of it.

Need to sneak past a whole heap of monsters with your stolen treasure? Better hope your Exploration - Stealth is up to snuff. Or work on your Hunter - Fighting stat if you want to take down that baddie keeping the town hostage.

Each option then takes a roll, which can be influenced by the player. Success or Failure is determined by this role and then delivered, as well as any spoils or penalties associated with the scenario.

The higher level the scenario the more goodies you're likely to get out of it.

But each scenario comes with a cost.

The Hunter has Energy, and each Scenario Adventure costs at least 1 Energy. This can also scale if the Scenario is a higher level of difficulty than the player, certain missions also allow the player to elect to spend more Energy to get more loot or benefits from it.

Once this Energy runs out the player is unable to perform any more actions until the next in-game day, when it will replenish.

Levelling up will raise the Energy, and certain in game actions may refill or partially buff the max capacity too!

SECTION FOUR - Forage Missions

At some point the player will have completed a good amount of the Random Missions available. As this goes on the player may find it preferable to instead perform Forage Missions.

As pictured below, each Hunting Region has a collection of Forage Missions. These allow the player guaranteed access to certain items at the cost of Energy, so a player can choose to spend all of their energy in one day just collecting Mweep Wool, for example.

This does however require the player to have encountered so many sources of it during the course of their Scenario Adventures. As long as a specific item was given to the player it will count towards this Forage Mission goal.

SECTION FIVE - Milestones: Completion Rewarded

Each Region offers a set of Milestone Rewards at completion intervals. These are more in-depth operations that are intended to be more gameplay oriented than the usual randomised Scenarios.

They also offer more interesting rewards, such as permanent buffs to actions within that area, unique blueprints or bonuses to certain discipline checks.

All in all this has been a rather buff set of work to do. From inception to this point has taken a long time. This also puts Hush Blossom one step closer to being (Alpha) feature complete.

The next step is Ingredient Conversion, i.e. taking the Items found in the Hunter System and turning them into usable materials for crafting!
