The latest update comes a little later than the last! Getting a full time job has made progress a little slower, but it should settle in a place where I can get a lot more work done by next week! Be assured I'm super committed to getting Hush Blossom finished!
Also, if you follow my Twitter (you should totally go do that :3) and follow general game news you'll know that Game Maker 2 will soon be supporting Nintendo Switch. As a long time fan of Nintendo I'm very excited to develop Hush Blossom with an intention to publish on both PC and Switch, this has got me even more pumped to work on Hush Blossom than before!
That said this weeks Development Blog focuses on the Display section!
I mentioned it lightly on my last Development Diary but the Display section is fairly simple in concept, allow the player to display Lingerie on the shop floor in things called 'Containers'. The player is able to buy and upgrade Containers based on their Seller level. The higher the level of the Container the more Lingerie can be stocked within it, and the more customers will be likely to buy something from it.
Development of this became somewhat complicated, adding all of the sprite images per Lingerie and creating a quick cheat button to allow myself quick access to multiple Lingerie Items without creating them by hand really sped up testing and development, even considering the complexity!
What we're left with is a system that allows you to select Lingerie from your Inventory, and stock a selected amount in the Store. Once Lingerie is placed in a 'Slot' the player is able to click on that Slot in order to remove it/add 1 more to the stock/increase it to max capacity/enable autofill. Autofill will, as it suggests, replace whatever stock is sold immediately, this will be an unlockable ability for convenience!
Inventory currently held as stock will also be displayed in Inventory sections in a pair of brackets, so the player is always aware of their stock any time they check.
This about wraps it up, the next Diary Post will be focusing on Customer Randomisation on entry. Customer entrance and purchasing could take some time, so I'll likely upload intermediary diaries in the interim.
Keep on Blossoming!
